Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data the SafeMoney VPN app (the “app”) collects, why we collect it and what rights you have. The app is published by SAFEMONEY SOFTWARE LTD, company number 17535478, registered office 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of your personal data.
1. Our no-logs commitment
We do not record the websites you visit, the apps you use over the VPN, the content of your traffic or your DNS queries. We do not build a profile of your internet activity, and we do not sell your personal data.
2. Data we collect
Account data
- Your email address, if you sign in with email.
- Your name, only if you choose to give it.
- Your Telegram ID, username and language, if you sign in with Telegram.
- Your Google account email, if you sign in with Google.
- A hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
- An account ID that we generate.
Device and subscription data
- A device identifier generated by the app, the device model and the versions of the app and operating system. We use this to sign you in, to apply the device limit of your plan and to prevent repeated free trials.
- Your plan, its start and end dates and the list of your connected devices.
- The total amount of data used by your subscription. This is a single counter. It does not show what the data was used for.
Connection data
- When you connect, your IP address is used to set up the connection, together with the server you chose and the time of the event. Technical logs that contain this data are deleted automatically within 30 days.
Payment data
- The amount, currency, date, status and transaction ID of each payment, and the payment method you chose.
- Your full card number, security code and banking credentials are processed by the payment provider. We never receive them.
Support data
- Your messages to support, your contact details for the reply and any files you choose to attach.
The app does not show ads and does not contain advertising or tracking SDKs.
3. How the app uses the VPN service
The app uses Android's VpnService for one purpose: to create an encrypted connection between your device and our VPN servers. We do not use VpnService to collect data about your browsing or other apps, to show or change ads, or to redirect your traffic for profit.
4. Why we use your data
We use your data only for the purposes below. Under UK data protection law, each purpose has a legal basis.
- To provide the service: to create and manage your account, sign you in, connect you to VPN servers, manage your subscription and devices, and process payments. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To support you: to answer your requests and fix problems. Basis: performance of contract and our legitimate interest in helping users.
- To protect the service: to prevent fraud, attacks, abuse of free trials and breaches of our terms. Basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and fair.
- To meet legal obligations: to keep accounting records and respond to lawful requests. Basis: legal obligation.
5. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who need it to do their job for us, and only as much as they need:
- hosting and server providers that run our infrastructure and VPN servers;
- payment providers that process your payments;
- email delivery providers that send sign-in codes and service messages;
- Telegram and Google, if you choose to sign in with them;
- public authorities, only when the law requires us to.
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
6. International transfers
Our VPN servers and service providers are located in several countries, so your data may be processed outside the United Kingdom. A VPN server receives only the technical identifier needed to let you connect and your IP address while the connection is being set up. It does not receive your email or payment history. When data is transferred outside the UK, we use safeguards required by UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
7. How long we keep data
- Account and subscription data: while your account exists. It is deleted when you delete your account.
- Technical logs: up to 30 days, unless we need them longer to investigate a specific security incident.
- Payment records: 6 years, as required by UK tax and accounting law.
- Support conversations: deleted together with your account.
- Free-trial records: device identifiers and protected records of the contacts used for a free trial are kept after account deletion, only to stop the same person from claiming another free trial.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, protected storage of secrets and backups. Only people who need access to do their work get it. No system is completely secure, so please protect your device and your sign-in details too.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- get a copy of your personal data;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use your data;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, email support@safemoneysoftware.com. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app under Profile → Delete account, or by emailing us. See how to delete your account for the steps and for what we keep after deletion.
11. Children
The app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
